Ziyi Zhang

Ziyi Zhang (章子怡) is one of the most recognized Chinese actresses in international cinema. She rose to global prominence with her role as Jen Yu in Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), for which she received widespread critical acclaim.

Born in Beijing, she trained at the Affiliated Secondary School of Beijing Dance Academy and later the Central Academy of Drama. Her breakthrough came with Zhang Yimou's The Road Home (1999), and she went on to star in Hero (2002), House of Flying Daggers (2004), and Memoirs of a Geisha (2005), for which she won several awards and nominations.
